Hello everyone,

As we approach the start of Fall Quarter 2023, our next Geospatial/GIS meetup will be on Thursday, September 21 from 12:00-12:50 pm.

The meetup will be held in Rivera Library, Room 140 and on Zoom.
(To find Rivera 140: turn right after entering Rivera Library. Keep walking until you pass the elevators. Room 140 is on the corner of the hallway you'll see to your left.)
The meetup will start with announcements of general interest.
Our presentation will particularly benefit UCR faculty, researchers, and staff who teach or use Esri products!
Brian Baldwin, a Lead Solution Engineer at Esri supporting Higher Education, will join us remotely to present Goodbye ArcMap: Resources, tips, and tricks to help with the move to web GIS and ArcGIS Pro.

With ArcMap retiring shortly, it offers an opportunity to reimagine the ways GIS is taught across your classes. In this session, attendees will be presented with a rapid-fire overview of the latest and greatest resources for teaching GIS. From analysis to basic mapping, and GeoAI to hosted imagery, there is a lot. The goal for the session will be to ensure that you a wide array of things to take back into the classroom, lab, or lecture hall.

BIO: Brian Baldwin has been working in the geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial industry for more than 15 years. GIS work experience brought Brian from the frozen tundra of Duluth MN as a digitizer, to the Big Island of Hawaii as a GIS Analyst, and the streets of Milwaukee as a Crime Analyst. Brian currently teaches GIS in the School of Interactive Games and Media at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Brian has also taught GIS at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Salem State University. Brian is a proud Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, father of 2, and husband to 1.

This meetup will be recorded.
A reminder email sent the day before the meetup will contain the Zoom information.
Another option: if you register through Eventbrite<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/geospatialgis-meetups-tickets-676042048967>, you'll receive an automated email with the Zoom information.
Feel free to forward this invitation to anyone you know who may be interested, especially geospatial folks who are new to UCR!

Best,
