Hi all,

As we watch the news coverage of the election, this series of maps illustrates how cartographic choices on election maps may skew perceptions, intentionally or not: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/10/30/opinion/election-results-maps.html. Hopefully at a future meetup we'll have time to look at examples from this election.

And, with an interest in promoting information literacy more broadly, I wanted to pass along this resource<https://newslit.org/educators/sift/the-sift-news-literate-election-day-campaign-rumors-requiring-news-literacy-education/?emci=d214e257-4d1d-eb11-96f5-00155d03bda0&emdi=72d74506-5e1d-eb11-96f5-00155d03bda0&ceid=8304855> one of my colleagues shared about election coverage. It's aimed at educators but has information we all could use.

Stay well,

Janet Reyes
