[Entm-researchstaff] STEAM Academy: looking for instructors

Hello all,

I had a conversation with Joi A. Spencer, Dean and Professor, School of
Education, recently and she would love to have someone from
Entomology participate in the STEAM Academy. I will do tours of Entomology
for some of the groups, but Joi is looking for* instructors for a 4-day
mini-course*. This could be a great opportunity for grad students or
postdocs, also because you would be working closely with folks from the
School of Education. I realize timing is bad with the summer camp and
fieldwork. There is a small financial incentive (I think $400 for a
mini-course).

If you are interested, please email me and I'll get you in touch with Joi
and her doctoral student Edwin Rivera who will help with logistics.

- We run two Academies. Each has approximately 45 students.
- STEAM Academy 1- June 22- July 3
- STEAM academy 2- July 6- July 17
- We are hoping to have some 4-day mini lessons taught to our students.
- Lesson times: 11am-12:30pm
- Mini-courses can run during either or both Academies AND/OR either or
both weeks of each Academy.
- We are also open to an hour-long workshop (if it is too difficult to put
a mini-course together). We can be flexible.

A flyer including a QR code for submitting course or workshop ideas is
attached. Once the course idea is submitted, a more detailed lesson plan
will be required. I have attached that lesson plan template for
your information.
