*Lead Entomologist - Behavioral Assay Development*
Monarch identifies and produces naturally occurring compounds to replace
conventional insecticides.
*Job Overview*
Monarch is seeking a Lead Entomologist to develop and implement behavioral
assays that assess how insects respond to visual and olfactory stimuli.
Your work will be critical in validating the efficacy of compounds across
multiple insect species. The role will involve designing and conducting
experiments aimed at discovering broad-spectrum, natural repellents.
*Key Responsibilities*
•Design and develop behavioral assays to assess insect response to
predicted repellent compounds.
•Lead experiments to test compounds for broad-spectrum effectiveness
•Analyze experimental data to optimize compound performance, ensuring both
repellency and pleasant odor characteristics.
•Present findings to the leadership team and contribute to the ongoing
development of novel insect repellents.
*Location*
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Alameda, CA.
*Why Join Monarch?*
At Monarch, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the way insect
repellents are discovered, developed, and deployed at scale.
*Qualifications*
•Experience in behavioral assays and insect behavior research.
•Experience working with machine learning models or cheminformatics
pipelines is a plus.
•Strong analytical skills

Hi Richard, my company is interested in doing some research on reducing the
use of insecticides on our crops. As part of our work, we're interested in
hiring 1-3 entomologists to work in a lab setting (work consisting of
applied behavioral assays) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Would you be able to direct us to any of your current or former students?
Congrats on all the groundbreaking work you all have led on!
Josh
