All,
As some of you know, the building AC crapped out some time late this
morning/early afternoon. Temps in rooms were approaching 100F (mostly high
80's). Things are better now but will take a few hours to dump the heat
load. If you are concerned about your research operations, you probably
need to come in and check on stuff.
Additionally, the second floor cold room went off again (different system
than above). It is being addressed now.
We owe a huge "thank you" to Darren McManus from the physical plant.
Darren is the guy who repeatedly gets called in (24/7) to restore the
operation of this building. Today, he has been on the roof in 106+
temperatures getting the system back online. This is the second time in 6
weeks he has saved our butts, and has done so numerous times each year
(rain/shine/hot/cold). I am thinking about collecting some cash (like in
your pocket) to get him a nice gift card or something he would enjoy (beer,
wine, etc). If you are interested, just let me know and drop by my office
with a donation.
