Good morning all,
As many of you know, the Asian longhorned tick is in Tennessee & North
Carolina. Additionally, we have a few counties positive with *Theileria
orientalis* Ikeda. In an effort to better understand this vector-borne
disease complex and to prepare for the spring set of new cases, we are able
to hire *two post-doctoral research associates *in complementary positions.
Part of this funding comes from a USDA funded project

with NC State (Watson & Harmon) where we plan to use computer imaging to
develop a network for automated tick detection on cattle (not specific to
Asian longhorned tick). Additional funding comes from the University of
Tennessee to assist with field work. We hope that both associates will
start in *January/February of 2023*.

One just happens to be called lead because one had to be posted first.
Ideal candidates will indicate what they know how to do and can teach
others and what they want to learn from others. I’m really hoping this
could be a great ‘tick team’ that works well with our stakeholders. Both
associates will help with development, validation, and evaluation of the
computer visioning system.
Potential applicants can email me with questions, but applications must
formally go through the UT website.
Please share with appropriate people and thanks,
