Hi Rick!

Natalie, Kieran, and I are co-PIs on an AFD grant for EEOB. One of the
things we promised was to bring in more diverse seminar speakers that touch
on the intersection of science and society. To that end, we got Dr. Joseph
Graves, who is very famous and also the first Black American to earn a PhD
in evolutionary biology. He is currently faculty at North Carolina A&T, the
largest HBCU in the country, and he’s interested in lunching with
undergraduates that would be interested in earning PhDs there—he has a lot
of funding to enable this.

I’ve attached a flyer here that you can distribute to anyone. If you have
any undergraduates in Botany you think might be interested in attending,
have them email me! And let me know if you have other questions.
