Hello,



I would like to share an exciting job opportunity for a lead insect pest
survey coordinator role in Portland, Oregon. This position is an integral
part of statewide monitoring efforts conducted by the Insect Pest
Prevention and Management program here at the Oregon Department of
Agriculture. This role oversees the Portland field office operations and a
team of 20-25 insect trappers/ staff stationed there. Major daily tasks
include the creation of survey maps on ArcGIS, field work planning and
daily survey logistics, property inspections, public outreach, and working
with stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested
in invasive insect monitoring, detection, and management. Management and
eradication efforts in this office are currently focused on significant
economic pests like emerald ash borer, Japanese beetle, spongy moth, and a
variety of other species that threaten Oregon Agriculture and natural
resources.
