Hello Chris,

I'm reaching out to you on behalf of Model United Nations here at UCR. We're an organization here on campus that emulates the work of the United Nations and are dedicated to teaching students the importance of international policy, diplomacy, public speaking, and policy research. I am writing to you today to invite your class about a great event we will be hosting in the next few weeks that we think will interest your students! We would like to ask if you can send this email as an announcement to your students via email on Canvas as well and if we could make a brief announcement about the event sometime this week in your classroom!

Model United Nations and the Office of Sustainability at UC Riverside would like to formally invite your class to participate in The World Climate Simulation, an interactive event that is intended to parallel the UN climate change negotiation process as seen in the UN Climate Change Conference. This one day in-person event will be held on November 13th from 1:00PM - 4:00PM at the UCR Botanic Gardens Venue completely FREE of charge to all participants.

Participants will act as world leaders who must produce a global agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions enough so that it may limit global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius. The purpose of this event is not to act as a competition between delegates rather as an educative opportunity for UCR students to learn about the different solutions and struggles the international community must consider and ultimately overcome in order to prevent the greatest existential crisis our generation is being faced with.

If any of your students are interested in attending, they can find the Google Forms Registration Link below. We would encourage all of those that are interested in attending the event to please fill out the Registration Link as soon as possible as space is limited.

Model United Nations and the Office of Sustainability at UC Riverside looks forward to hosting this great learning opportunity for the UCR community and can only hope that many of your students take an interest in attending the event!

Please feel free to ask us any questions at ucr.mun at gmail.com<mailto:ucr.mun at gmail.com> and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
