Dear all:
 
I hope that you are well and having a good Fall quarter at UCR.  As part of our Departmental efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the sciences, we have sought out and obtained access to the new documentary film, Picture a Scientist (https://www.pictureascientist.com/ <https://www.pictureascientist.com/>).  This film examines the career paths and experiences of three scientists in the fields of biology (Nancy Hopkins), chemistry (Raychelle Burks), and geology (Jane Willenbring) and seeks to provide a variety of perspectives on how we can make science more welcoming to all bright minds.  In watching this film, it is our hope that we can listen, learn, and reflect on our practices at UCR and enact positive change for our community.
 
Please join us in watching Picture a Scientist in a private, UCR CNAS only online screening room.  The screening room will open at 12 pm on October 29th, 2020 and remain open for viewing until 12 pm on November 1st.
