UWP Lecturers Unemployment Compensation

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if I can solicit advice from any of you who have gone through the process of applying for unemployment compensation.  After finally finishing my Ph.D. and after nine years of teaching at UCR, I'm going to be applying for the first time tomorrow.  Any info about avoiding possible pitfalls would be appreciated.
