Hello Lecturers,

As one of your Lecturer Representatives, and as a member of the UWP ad-hoc committee on Writing Across the Curriculum, I want to give you an update on the proposed WAC alternatives to English 1C. My intention here is to try to continue some of the discussion of 1C that began at the Pedagogical Society meeting a couple of weeks ago.

I've attached here a few paragraphs from the latest draft of legistlation for the proposed alternatives to English 1C, which the larger UWP program committee will be discussing tomorrow (Wednesday). These particular paragraphs outline the three proposed "pathways" for students to take to satisfy the third quarter of the university writing requirement, and suggest what might be involved in training TAs in other departments and in approving courses as writing intensive alternatives.

If you have any concerns that you would like me (or Keith Vance) to bring to the table tomorrow, please let us know via email. I apologize for the late notice. The committee is still working on final language, although we're running up against a deadline.

Thanks,

Julie Brett
