We all received an invitation to Dean Cullenberg's holiday reception next Thursday 12-3 pm.  One of our union members, Ruth Charloff, will be conducting the UCR Chamber Singers.  I'd like to encourage everyone to attend this event and express our appreciation at being invited to it.

Entertainment by UCR Chamber Singers and UCR Mayupatapi Ensemble
 

Ruth Charloff conducts the UCR Chamber Singers who will sing various Latin American works, including sacred music of colonial Mexico, several short works by Brazil's Heitor Villa-Lobos, and music from Argentina, Cuba and Columbia.  Joining the Chamber Singers will be UCR's own Andean ensemble Mayupatapi (the name means "Riverside" in the Quechua language), led by Music Department Professor Jonathan Ritter.  Mayupatapi's instruments include panpipes, guitar, charango (a 10-string mini-lute), and a variety of Andean and African-derived percussion.
