Auditions:
October 5th, 9:00am – 3:00pm
(Please note all auditions will be given a specific time within this window)
Performance: Friday November 2nd 6:00pm and 8:00pm
Rehearsals: 3 walkthrough rehearsals to be held on Mondays October 15,
22, 29 in the evening. Times TBD. Final Run Through: Friday November
2nd 10:00am 3:00pm

Synopsis:
“i stepped out of a dream..” follows the life of the sisters Cuca and
Eva Aguirre as they begin their journey as performers, singers, and
poets starting in Juarez, Mexico in 1932 through key moments in their
lives over time. Written and directed by the Poet Laureate of the
State of California Juan Felipe Herrera, this experimental poetry-play
is the culmination of his being selected as the Gluck Fellows Program
of the Arts Visiting Artist for 2012.
Character BIOS
Cuca Aguirre, singer and dancer: Female, age 18-30. Cuca dreams of
performing on the radio and has the independent spirit to do so in a
social-time when it was not considered appropriate for women to do so.
She is a strong singer and loves the spotlight. Eva’s older sister.

Eva Aguirre, singer and dancer: Female, age 18-25. Eva also dreams of
performing; though she is more of a dancer. Not as outspoken as Cuca,
she is also a reliable friend to her sister and supporter of her dream
and her critic.

Germán Valdez (comedian, announcer and singer-dancer):Male, Age 18-25.
German works alongside Cuca and Eva in the radio program and also on
tour throughout Texas. Later he becomes a major movie star and
international sensation known as Tin Tan.

Don Francisco, Eva’s husband, storyteller: Male, Age 20-30. Present
day husband and early day partner of Eva, storyteller.

Elvira Macías, singer and dancer: Female, Age 18-25. Works alongside
Cuca and Eva in the radio threatre programming of XEJ, Juarez and also
on tour throughout Texas

Roberto Quintana, Male, Age 18-30.  (radio “anunciador,” poet, actor
and arts community organizer): A poet and creative side-kick of Cuca,
Eva and German.

Sra. Aguirre: Cuca and Eva’s mother: Female, Age 20-30. A feisty woman
that keeps the Aguirre girls in check.

Chato Meneses, Manager and Producer of XEJ Radio Juarez: Male, Age
18-25. A rambunctious man and keen-eyed talent scout.
