Final Run Through: Friday November<br>2nd 10:00am 3:00pm<br><br>Synopsis:<br>“i stepped out of a dream..” follows the life of the sisters Cuca and<br>Eva Aguirre as they begin their journey as performers, singers, and<br>poets starting in Juarez, Mexico in 1932 through key moments in their<br>lives over time. Written and directed by the Poet Laureate of the<br>State of California Juan Felipe Herrera, this experimental poetry-play<br>is the culmination of his being selected as the Gluck Fellows Program<br>of the Arts Visiting Artist for 2012.<br>Character BIOS<br>Cuca Aguirre, singer and dancer: Female, age 18-30. Cuca dreams of<br>performing on the radio and has the independent spirit to do so in
a<br>social-time when it was not considered appropriate for women to do so.<br>She is a strong singer and loves the spotlight. Eva’s older sister.<br><br>Eva Aguirre, singer and dancer: Female, age 18-25. Eva also dreams of<br>performing; though she is more of a dancer. Not as outspoken as Cuca,<br>she is also a reliable friend to her sister and supporter of her dream<br>and her critic.<br><br>Germán Valdez (comedian, announcer and singer-dancer):Male, Age 18-25.<br>German works alongside Cuca and Eva in the radio program and also on<br>tour throughout Texas. Later he becomes a major movie star and<br>international sensation known as Tin Tan.<br><br>Don Francisco, Eva’s husband, storyteller: Male, Age 20-30. Present<br>day husband and early day partner of Eva, storyteller.<br><br>Elvira Macías, singer and dancer: Female, Age 18-25. Works alongside<br>Cuca and Eva in the radio threatre programming of XEJ, Juarez and also<br>on tour throughout
Texas<br><br>Roberto Quintana, Male, Age 18-30. (radio “anunciador,” poet, actor<br>and arts community organizer): A poet and creative side-kick of Cuca,<br>Eva and German.<br><br>Sra. Aguirre: Cuca and Eva’s mother: Female, Age 20-30. A feisty woman<br>that keeps the Aguirre girls in check.<br><br>Chato Meneses, Manager and Producer of XEJ Radio Juarez: Male, Age<br>18-25.
