Hi Bryan,
Is there any way to remove me from the student CW-grad announcement list, or but leave me on the CWPA-MFA-Alumni list. I'm sorry to say I do not remember what my password or student email and I.D. was. Or perhaps you could send directions--
Thanks,
Val Stulman

Subject: [CW-Grad] Playworks message from Professor Jaffe-Berg

Hi everyone,

I am the coordinator for Playworks, and I wanted to send some information about the Playworks submission process. Playworks (May 31-June 2) is the festival of original work by undergraduate and graduate students. All interested MFA graduate students are invited to submit One-Act plays to Playworks. One-Act plays receive a reading by students in the Theatre Department. Generally, the readings are directed by faculty or professional directors. At times, advanced students in the undergraduate program are selected as directors. This year Playworks will take place on May 31, June 1 and June 2. Normally, undergraduates have their work presented on the first days of Playworks and graduate students have their work presented on the final night of Playworks.

The deadline for submission of work is March 14. Plays can be submitted by email to me at:erithj at ucr.edu. A final draft of the play is due on the first week of spring quarter. All of the specifications regarding the Playworks submission process are detailed online at the Department of Theatre website under "Production" and then under "Playworks Production Guidelines." I have also cut and paste the instructions below.

Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions. While I am still on sabbatical, I will attempt to get back to you as soon as possible.

My best,
Prof. Erith Jaffe-Berg

3. Script Submissions: Graduate Scripts

3.1 First-year graduate students in the MFA program are eligible to submit One-Act
plays for Playworks. Only One-Acts will be accepted. All plays may be
submitted for consideration by KCACTF (Kennedy Center American College
Theatre Festival).

3.2 First-year graduates will have a staged reading of the One Act. Directed by either
a professional director or a highly experienced student, the production includes a
highly proficient staged reading suggesting tone, rhythm, spatial relations.
Performances are performed “script-in-hand”.

3.4 The deadline for preliminary drafts is the last week of the winter
quarter.

3.5 Final drafts are due on the first week of the spring quarter.

3.6 Though line changes may be made to the script beyond this point,
no characters may be added or taken out of the play beyond the
first week of the spring quarter.

3.7 All scripts are submitted properly formatted to:erithj at ucr.edu and
thea160 at ucr.edu.

3.8 Once the plays are in rehearsal, it is the responsibility of the director to
communicate any changes made to the scripts to the Stage Manger.

3.9 A final script is to be delivered by the director to the Stage Manager before
Paper Tech.

3.10 Changes are submitted to the Stage Manager atthea160 at ucr.edu.
