By the way, one of our alumna, Rigoberto Gonzalez, wrote his first book on this fellowship - do apply if you think it's a good place for you, because they really focus on your time to create.

Wisconsin Fiction & Poetry
Fellowships: Deadline Feb. 29
Don't miss the deadline for poetry and fiction fellowship applications: all submissions must be received by February 29.
Since 1986, the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has provided time, space, and an intellectual community for writers working on a first book of poetry or fiction. At present, the Institute annually offers up to seven year-long fellowships: three fiction fellowships, two poetry fellowships, one playwriting fellowship, and one fellowship in either fiction or poetry for a graduate of the University's MFA Program in Creative Writing. Each fellowship carries with it a $27,000 stipend, generous health benefits, and a one-course-per-semester teaching assignment in intermediate or advanced undergraduate creative writing. Detailed information about the fellowships and the UW-Madison Creative Writing community is available on our website<http://uwcwp.hosted.phplist.com/lists/lt.php?id=eEkGU04BS1VQCQI%3D>.
Poetry and Fiction applications guidelines are outlined below. All applicants must have an MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing in-hand by August 1, 2012, to qualify. Playwriting applicants should refer to the website<http://uwcwp.hosted.phplist.com/lists/lt.php?id=eEkGUk4BS1VQCQI%3D> for special guidelines; the playwriting deadline is April 1.
* A $45.00 Application Fee payable to the UW-Madison Department of English.
* A single cover sheet listing your name, address, phone number, email address and the title(s) of your writing sample, as well as the genre in which you are applying.
* A resume or curriculum vitae.
* The names, phone numbers, and email addresses of two recommenders.
* A writing sample consisting of either 10 pages of poetry (single-spaced and stapled with no more than one poem per page, each new poem starting on a new page) or up to 30 pages of fiction (double-spaced and stapled). Fiction applications must consist of either one short story or a novel excerpt. Your name must not appear anywhere on your manuscript, and while previously published work may be submitted, your manuscript must in no way indicate that your work has been published.
* A self-addressed stamped envelope for our decision.
Send your applications to the address below. Due to the number of applications we receive, we cannot confirm receipt of your application; if you wish to know that it arrived safely, we recommend using USPS Certified Mail:
