Antanas Sileika to judge writing competition
Director of Humber School for Writers to select Whispered Words $1000 prize-winner

durham region, ON  November 3, 2011:  Whispered Words, the themed prose competition run by the Writers' Community of Durham Region, has a secret to share. Antanas Sileika<http://antanassileika.ca/> will be Whispered Words' final judge. Sileika is eminently qualified. He is the director of the Humber School for Writers and the author of four books of fiction, most recently Underground, a novel published by Thomas Allen in in 2011. He has also contributed widely to book criticism on radio, television, and in print.

He'll see a broad spectrum of writing. Whispered Words welcomes fiction and non-fiction, accepting prose of all kinds: literary, science fiction, children's, memoir, essay, creative non-fiction. All entries compete head to head, word for word...and whisper for whisper.

The $1000 first prize includes publication in the Whispered Words literary anthology. The $400 second prize winner, $200 third place winner and selected honourable mentions will also be published in the anthology. All published entries reap $25 payment and a contributor's copy. What's more, each and every entry in the contest receives written feedback from the judges.

The maximum word count is 1000 words. The entry fee is just $20 Canadian - $25 for international entries.

Whispered Words is also running a cover design contest. The prize is $150, publication on the cover of the Whispered Words anthology, plus a contributor's copy. Entry fee is $5 Canadian. The cover art contest will be judged by David Schembri of Surfacing magazine.
