<b><i><span lang="EN-CA">Whispered Words</span></i></b><span lang="EN-CA">, the themed prose competition run by the Writers’ Community of Durham Region, has a secret to share.
<a href="http://antanassileika.ca/" target="_blank" title="antanassileika.ca"><span style="color:windowtext;text-decoration:none">Antanas Sileika</span></a> will be Whispered Words’ final judge. Sileika is eminently qualified. He is the director of the Humber
School for Writers and the author of four books of fiction, most recently <i>Underground</i>, a novel published by Thomas Allen in in 2011. He has also contributed widely to book criticism on radio, television, and in print.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">He’ll see a broad spectrum of writing. Whispered Words welcomes fiction and non-fiction, accepting prose of all kinds: literary, science fiction, children’s, memoir, essay, creative non-fiction. All entries compete head
to head, word for word...and whisper for whisper.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">The $1000 first prize includes publication in the
<i>Whispered Words</i> literary anthology. The $400 second prize winner, $200 third place winner and selected honourable mentions will also be published in the anthology. All published entries reap $25 payment and a contributor’s copy. What’s more, each and
every entry in the contest receives written feedback from the judges. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">The maximum word count is 1000 words. The entry fee is just $20 Canadian – $25 for international entries.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Whispered Words is also running a cover design contest. The prize is $150, publication on the cover of the Whispered Words anthology, plus a contributor’s copy. Entry fee is $5 Canadian. The cover art contest will be
judged by David Schembri of <i>Surfacing</i> magazine.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
