The staff of Iron Horse Literary Review is proud to announce:

The 2011 Discovered Voices Awards

In 2011/2012, Iron Horse Literary Review will publish one story, one
essay, or three to four poems written by a graduate student currently
enrolled in an AWP-affiliated program. The featured writer will be
displayed prominently in the issue and will also receive $150 for
firstserial
publication rights and four free copies of the issue featuring his or
her work. IHLR editors judges this competition.

Rules:
• Manuscripts must arrive with a nomination letter from the director/faculty
member of the
student's creative writing program.
• Each program may nominate only ONE student per genre: one in fiction, one
in nonfiction, one in poetry. Multiple submissions from the same program
will be automatically disqualified.
• Prose manuscripts should be no longer than 20 pages, double-spaced,
one-inch margins, 12-point type; poetry manuscripts should include 3 to 5
poems but not more than 10 pages.
• Previously published manuscripts will not be considered.
• Simultaneous submissions will not be considered.
• Students enrolled in Texas Tech University's creative writing program will
not be considered.
• All nominations must be postmarked by March 18th.
• Manuscripts should be sent to Iron Horse Literary Review, Discovered
Voices Award,
Department of English, Texas Tech University, MS 43091, Lubbock, TX
79409-3091. Make
sure the envelope clearly says this is a nomination for the Discovered
Voices Award.
• Please include the student's bio note, social security number, HOME
address, and email
address on a title/cover sheet, but do NOT place any identifying information
on the
manuscript itself.
• Questions should be directed to mail at ironhorsereview.com.
