Hi folks,
Leonid Leonov is officially CWPA's representative to the Graduate Student
Association (GSA), but I will be repping us this quarter as Leonid has a
class that conflicts with council meetings and I'll already be at these
meetings anyway.
There are just a few things of importance to relay to you all:
- *GRAD BASH:* This Friday, October 15, at 5pm is the annual Grad Bash at
the Getaway Cafe. Please bring your ID for free pizza (but not free drinks)
and a chance to hang out with other grad students. GSA is also sponsoring
voter registration, which is due by October 18 if you haven't already
submitted one.
- *CONFERENCE TRAVEL GRANTS:* For those who don't know, the GSA offers
grants for conference travel (but not workshops, sorry). There have been
issues in the past with the timeliness of reimbursments, but GSA hopes to
have ironed them out by now. Please pay attention to all pertinent deadlines
as listed on the GSA website:
http://www.gsa.ucr.edu/travelgrant/index.html
- *STUDENTS OF COLOR CONFERENCE:* The UC-wide Students of Color
Conference will be held at UCSB, November 19-21. Interested folks can have
their entire trip subsidized. Applications are due by November 5 at 12 noon.
Space is limited. Apply here: https://spreadsheets.googl

Also, if anyone is dying to see what goes on with the GSA, monthly Council
meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 6pm in HUB 355.
Meetings are open to the public, and free pizza is usually involved.
If you have any questions, issues, or concerns to relay to the GSA, please
let me or Leonid know.
Andrea
