Proposals are now being accepted for panels on pedagogy regarding all types and forms of an often overlooked genre, the Personal Journal (historical, political, social, cultural, ecological, ethnographic, memoir, diary, video-journal, TV/Film self-confessionals, etc), and its integral relationship with Cultural Studies, Literature, Media Studies and other disciplines.

All topics and approaches to teaching the personal journal are welcome, the three main pedagogy categories being a) as a stand-alone genre b) a genre incorporated into arts/humanities courses, and c) an object of study--a cultural artifact featured in any of its other forms such as television and film. Authors reflecting cultural, ethnic, socio-economic, and political diversity, as well as authorial diversity of approach to the genre and its form variants are encouraged. Exploring the idea of garnering more recognition and incorporation of the personal journal and its versatility across the disciplines as a tool for analysis in its written, oral and visual forms is also encouraged. Papers on any facet of Personal Journal pedagogy are welcome!

Graduate students/future teachers are also welcome to participate, or register to attend the conference and personal journal forum. Those interested in the Personal Journal panel should contact the Personal Journal Chair, Lisette Davies Ward at lisette.daviesward at cgu.edu with any questions. Submit proposals of 150-250 words, including a working title and a brief biography of around 100 words, to lisette.daviesward at cgu.edu <mailto:lisette.daviesward at cgu.edu> .

Conference Keynote Speaker:

Adilifu Nama, author of Black Space: Imagining Race in Science Fiction Film, 2008, and Winner of Peter C. Rollins Book Award, 2009.

Please pass along this CFP to friends and colleagues.
