We just received notification that Susan Straight has been awarded an  
accelerated merit/promotion increase to Professor, Step IX, the top  
rank in the UC  professorial ranking system.  The Committee on  
Academic Programs and the central administration concur with the  
faculty's judgment that Susan is hot s _ _ _.
