Regarding networking, I've been meaning to send out an FYI that there is a
Grad Students of Color Collective which started last year as a supportive
network for grad students of color. They meet up once a month (the day &
time changes each time to try to accommodate different schedules) in a
social setting. There's also a listserve interested students can join --
gsocc at googlegroups.com

The moderator I believe is Q (a psych grad student), who you can e-mail at:
qhuyn002 at ucr.edu

There are currently grad students from the Psych, English & Sociology
departments (from what I can tell) & Creative Writing students have gone in
the past.
