Targeting Iran provides crucial insight into U.S.-Iran relations

  _____

Since October, City Lights author David Barsamian has staged a public
re-education campaign to discuss the United States' collision course with
Iran. Speaking at venues across the country, Barsamian, the founder and host
of the radio network Alternative Radio, is shedding light on what New Yorker
columnist Seymour Hersh calls the redefinition "of the war in Iraq... as a
strategic battle between the United States and Iran." It's imperative for
all of us to be as informed as possible, and Barsamian's new book
<http://www.citylights.com/book/?GCOI=87286100424000> Targeting Iran offers
a range of insights from three experts: Ervand Abrahamian, Noam Chomsky, and
Nahid Mozaffari.

 <http://www.citylights.com/book/?GCOI=87286100366470> Oracle Bones
A Journey Through Time in China
by Peter Hessler

This splendid work of narrative non-fiction tracks the lives of several
likeable, ordinary people facing the challenges of modern China, with
excursions into ancient and modern Chinese history, art, language, and
culture. An illuminating and engaging read.

 <http://www.citylights.com/book/?GCOI=87286100135970> 1491
New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus
by Charles C. Mann

This is an important book. Mann presents such a massive amount of new
material that it represents an absolute return to square-one for Western
Hemisphere studies. Easy to understand, even charming, 1491 is the beginning
of what we might know about the past.
