Randall Lewis Seminar Series - Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011
Creating A Living Canvas Through Design, Selection
Creating landscapes and gardens with appropriate plantings and proper irrigation will be the topic of the Sept. 21 Randall Lewis Seminar Series.

Theresa Arial, Manager of the UCR Botanic Gardens, will demonstrate basic landscape design by likening traditional art forms and landscape design. Through comparisons, landscape examples, and applications, she will reveal her methods in creating gardens and landscapes. The presentation will highlight the benefits of a solid design, and the importance of plant selection.

The seminar will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room A, UCR Extension Building, 1200 University Ave. in Riverside.

Ms. Arial also will discuss our existing landscapes, and how to incorporate less “thirsty” plants. Specific examples of appropriate plant selections will be featured. She will also address the need for revising irrigation systems, and how changing water mandates should affect designs, and plant choices.
