In this performance lecture and interactive workshop, *E.Macias*
<https://dance.arts.uci.edu/emacias> will address dance making and
*kakyosin: *Siksikaitsitap ways of knowing. As a dance scholar, dance
maker, and Assistant Professor of Dance in the Claire Trevor School of the
Arts at the University of California, Irvine, Macias focuses on the
histories and contemporary practices of the Native American Fancy Shawl
dance as a site of gender expansive being and resistance. In practice and
writing, Macias centers Siksikaitsitapi ways of knowing, and her creative
work is informed by story, family histories, relationships to land and the
more than human.
