Dear Creative Writing Department,

My name is Zoe Butler and I am the club manager for the Creative Writers
Guild at UCR. I am organizing an event for our club which gives students
the opportunity to showcase their writing, and even win prizes for it!

This event is known as the Haiku Deathmatch, which involves students
reading their pre-written or on the spot composed Haiku to face off against
one another as the winner is decided by audience applause (facilitated by
me and the other poetry officer of the Creative Writer’s Guild).

We are very excited to announce this very fun event, and would be honored
if you were to pass this information on to other faculty, students, and
anyone else who would want to join in on the fun! There are four categories
for people to partake in: Nature, Emotions, Funny/Clever, and
Miscellaneous. This event will take place on Wednesday, May 31st from 8 to
9:30 PM in the CHASS South 1134 building! I will attach a flyer to this
email for your reference and/or potential use.
