[CNASEMC] FW: Instructor Access to Campus Space for Remote Teaching

Dear Mayela,

It is not clear from the message below or the attached communication who has to complete the Worksite Specific COVID-19 Prevention Plan for spaces that we requested to be used for instruction.  I think if it is a Department Space, we should require the Chair's office of the controlling Department to submit a copy of their plan to us (they all have one due to Research Ramp-up).

If they are requesting to use campus classroom space, I think we need an answer on who is responsible for the Prevention Plan...the Department offering the class?  The Department that occupies the majority of the space in a building?  The Registrar's Office because they control the space (but clearly they do not think it is them since they are asking the Enrollment Managers to submit it.

Will you please reach out to Linda and get clarity on the spaces that are not controlled by a Department?  I would also like a tracking sheet that all of EMC can use to log requests that have gone forward to the Registrar's Office. I am sure I will be asked to provide information to the Dean's Office and I would like to have this for tracking the additional workload this is contributing to the EMC Staff.

Subject: Instructor Access to Campus Space for Remote Teaching

Greetings Schedulers,

I write to follow up on the recent email announcement regarding requests from instructors to use campus space to teach to their online students. (see attachment) Instructors have been directed to contact academic schedulers with their request to use an empty classroom or other space, such as a laboratory, studio, etc. The Registrar's Office and Facilities Services are working together to review these requests. To submit a request, please email: Academicscheduling at ucr.edu<mailto:Academicscheduling at ucr.edu>.

Requests should include the course number and name, schedule, instructor name and email address, room being requested (if specific), and the Worksite Specific COVID-19 Prevention Plan<https://campusreturn.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm4671/files/2020-08/Worksite-Specific-COVID-19-Prevention-Plan%20v2.pdf>. All requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Upon final decision, a notification will be sent to the department scheduler and the instructor. Please note: No updates will be made in Banner as this will not affect student participation.

As a reminder, instructors should make every effort to teach from a remote, off-campus location. Should you have any questions, please let me know.
