Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to inform you about the upcoming CAS/Shib upgrade, DUO
Universal Prompt switch, and the associated code freeze dates.
*DUO Universal Prompt Switch*
Our multi-factor authentication vendor, DUO, is transitioning to its new
Universal Prompt at the end of March 2024. To ensure a smooth transition,
we have been working with Unicon to upgrade our Central Authentication
Service (CAS) and Shibboleth (Shib) environments for compatibility with the
Universal Prompt.
ITS is working to understand the full impact to users. Currently, we know
that the look and feel of the prompt will change. An update will be
provided when the full scope is known. We hope to provide more details at
the January CITL meeting.
*Code Freeze*
To facilitate the upgrade and Universal Prompt implementation, we will
implement code freezes for CAS and Shib, with the exception of metadata
updates required for expiring certificates of existing SSO integrations.
Please note the following dates:
Shib code/SSO implementation freeze duration: December 11, 2023 - April 1,
2024.
CAS code/SSO implementation freeze duration: February 1, 2024 - April 1,
2024.
*QA Deployment and UAT*
The CAS/Shib upgrade will undergo user acceptance testing (UAT) in the QA
environment from January 4, 2024, to December 13, 2023. Your active
participation in this testing phase is greatly valued.
*Go-Live Dates*
The CAS/Shib upgrade is scheduled to go live on February 26, 2024, followed
by the DUO Universal Prompt on March 25-26, 2024.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to upgrade our systems and
implement the DUO Universal Prompt. Please do not hesitate to contact me if
you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
