Hello everyone, I hope your summer is going well. The UCR Advising Council
is a great organization for professional development. I encourage everyone
to send in your feedback in their survey, and to try to attend some of the
professional development events the advising council presents. The
advising council is open to all advisors (grad and undergrad). Thank you.
Best,
Perla

Good Afternoon UCR Advising Community!

For those who don't know me - my name is Carol May and I am the Undeclared
Program Coordinator in CHASS. I'm also proud to be serving as your Chair
for the 26-27 UCR Advising Council Steering Committee!

As our undergraduate advisors prepare to launch into
orientation/advising/registration season, I wanted to take a brief moment
to introduce our new Advising Council Steering Committee. We have a good
mix of returning and new members, and we are all very excited to bring you
a wide array of professional development opportunities in the new academic
year!

*Chair Elect:* Maria Rios, University Honors Program
*Communications Specialist:* Rachel Segura, BCOE
*Operations Specialist:* Yoli Vargas, School of Public Policy
*Secretary:* Andrea Martinez-Frausto, Kessler Scholars
*Treasurer:* Nancy Vasquez, CNAS
*General Members:*
Jocelyn Catano, BCOE
Jackelin Orellana, School of Business
Eva Larios, CHASS
Dustin Domingo, CNAS Graduate Student Affairs

Before we begin our planning, we want to hear from you - we want to know
the topics and issues that interest you most, or that you feel can most
benefit from. As advisors, we're constantly having to keep up with trends
in higher ed and generational differences with each incoming class. We're
sometimes dealing with our own life crises while we assist students in
navigating their educational journeys. It can be a lot! But the Advising
Council is here to support all advising staff in their professional
development - whether it be assisting in navigating different student
situations, or helping you determine your own pathway in the profession.
Please provide your feedback in this very quick survey
<https://forms.gle/LdQ8tAThjCqhaDUX9> so we know how to best serve the
advising community in the upcoming academic year.

Speaking on behalf of the entire Steering Committee, we wish you a
wonderful, stress-free summer and a productive and joyful academic year
ahead. Whether you are an undergraduate or graduate advisor, a department
manager or supervisor, or a part of one of our auxiliary advising units, we
look forward to seeing you at our events! Thank you in advance for your
feedback and participation in the survey.

Take care,
