Greetings,

Welcome to a new academic year! As part of our communication efforts, we
want to keep you informed about valuable opportunities such as

from the department of Chicano Student Programs and our on-and-off campus

In honor of Mes de la Herencia, Chicano Student Programs will co-host a

Ride to The Cheech w/ TAPS
Sunday, Oct 5 | 12:30–5pm | Meet at Bannockburn Village
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us! Ride RTA Route 1 to The Cheech &
Riverside Art Museum for the opening of Soy de Tejas: A Statewide Survey of
Latinx Art.

The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture aka “The Cheech” show
cases Chicana/o/x art, honoring and exploring its continued social,
cultural, and political impact, it’s the first cultural center of its kind.
The Cheech and Riverside Art Museum offers free admission on the first
Sunday of the month from 12 PM to 5 PM.

ReWriting Migration Stories Exhibit: Healing and (Re)Building Connection
Through Art
Now – Oct 21 | Rivera Library (1st Floor)
Explore art documenting migration journeys, healing, and connection. As
people impacted by immigration policy, we have used art to document our
journeys as we heal and (re)build connections. Join us to view our art
exhibit and reflect together. Explore the exhibit from September 19th to
October 21st on the 1st floor of Rivera Library.

Co-sponsored by UCR Undocumented Student Programs and UCR Library.

Chicano Latino Alumni Scholarship Application Open Until 10/15

The Chicano Latino Alumni Scholarship Application for Undergraduate and
Graduate Scholars is now available!

Each Scholarship Award can be up to the amount of $1,000 and the number of
awards depends upon available funds. Applications will be accepted until

Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution Educators (AHSIE) Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, November 10th, 2025

The Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institution Educators will be awarding
several scholarships for students, which will include registration to
attend the 18th Annual 2026 AHSIE Best Practices Conference scheduled March
8-11, 2026 at the Sheraton Boston - Boston, MA. Scholarship categories
include: associate’s level, bachelor’s level, and graduate/doctoral levels.

Recipients will be selected based on the following eligibility requirements:


   -

   First-Generation college student
   -

   Currently attend an HSI or eHSI in U.S. or Puerto Rico
   -

   Must minimally turn 18 by March 8, 2026
   -

   Enrolled full-time in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026
   -

   Have high financial need
   -

   Undocumented students are eligible to apply
   -

   Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
   -

   Completed application (including 3 imbedded short essays)
   -

   Scholarship recipients must attend the AHSIE Conference (if unable to
   travel,
   -

   possible exceptions will be considered)


The ideal candidate will demonstrate not only academic achievement, but
also the potential for leadership and contribution to the community. By
attending this conference, we hope to provide students the ability to
broaden experiences, develop networks and foster mentorship possibilities
with HSI designated campus professionals.

The award package includes cash scholarship, conference registration,
travel & hotel

expense, and recipients will be honored at the AHSIE Conference.

Deadline to apply is MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2025, 5:00 p.m. PST. Conference
registration will open October 1, 2025.
