Adelante Success Series - TODAY
Tuesday, February 16, 2021 (Last session)

The Adelante Success Series is a series of workshops to promote academic success, persistence, retention, and building community at UC Riverside. Winter quarter will focus on preparation for post-graduation. The series is open to all students. Workshops will be held every Tuesday from 12 - 1 pm.

As an incentive if you participate in 3 or more sessions you will be entered into a drawing for a graduate preparation course of your choice offered by KAPLAN, paid by our department. In addition for the students that fill out the evaluation you will be entered to win a $25 electronic gift card at the end of the series.

¡Presente! Bamby Salcedo
Join us for a conversation with Bamby Salcedo, "Madrina de honor" for the ¡Presente! Conference - un espacio for our QT* community. Bamby is a national and international transgender Latina Woman who completed her master's degree in Latino/a Studies. Bamby is the President and CEO of the TransLatin@ Coalition, a national organization that focuses on addressing the issues of transgender Latinxs in the US. Bamby has served and participated in many local, national and international organizations and planning groups. This work mediates intersections of race, gender, sexuality, age, social class, HIV+ status, immigration status and more.Closed captioning is provided for this event. It is a free event open to all.

Celebrate mujeres! Attend the annual series of events during Women's History Month to highlight the contributions of Chicana/Latinas, and to honor and empower all women. Register for the workshops, or the entire series. Z oom links will be shared following RSVP. We will also be raffling 5 shirts per event during all Semana de la Mujer week! Enter raffle per RSVP and attendance!

The 2021 Tomás Rivera Conference

The annual Tomás Rivera Conference, initiated in 1988, honors the legacy of Tomás Rivera by providing an international forum for reflection on the contributions of Chicanos and Latinos in the worlds of the arts, literature, creative writing, culture, business, medicine, and education. Readings and conversations by Eduardo Corral, Karla Cornejo Villavicencio, Donna Miscolta and Kristen Milares Young, Roberto Lovato, Javier Zamora, Patricia Engel, and Felicia Luna Lemus.
