My name is Maria Gutierrez, a second year PhD Candidate in the Hispanic Department at UCR. I am currently collaborating with Professor Holguin and Professor Higby on a Bilingual Study. We are currently looking for Bilingual people who learned English after the age of 8 years old and are not older than 45 years old. Refer to attachment.

Dear Chicano Student Program,

Our names are Leslie Arroyo and Angie Delgado and we are the Co-Directors of Outreach for Harvard's 15th Annual Latina Empowerment and Development (LEAD) Conference<http://www.harvardleadconference.org/> taking place February 4-5th at Harvard. LEAD is an annual 400+ person conference organized by representatives from Harvard's Latinas Unidas, an organization for Harvard's Latinx community and beyond. Our mission is to empower the next generation of Latinas to realize their impact in the professional and wider world, and serve as a forum for their groundbreaking ideas.

I wanted to share the Harvard LEAD Student Ambassador position. We'd love to start working with UCR and have your members join us in this capacity.

Job Description:
Family is looking for a friendly, patient person who will support a first-time university student in their transition to a 4-year institution from a community college.  Applicants should have a strong ability to follow lectures and conversations in class to provide notes to the Student.  Information gathered should include classroom conversation related to better understanding of course material for success in the class.

Applicant will work closely with the Student and their Academic Guide to ensure the Student has a clear understanding of the subject matter.  Each quarter will have 2 classes with potential discussions or study groups to participate in.  The Student will be part of UC Riverside's Students with Disabilities Resource Center which will also be an information partner.

Qualifications:
If the Applicant is a current student, they must be in good academic standing,
Strong ability to take notes at the university level
Ability to inform Student when to focus on particular points in class
Reviews material for understanding and can share in different ways for the Student's consideration
Time management and punctuality is important to the position

Preferred
Valid driver's license with vehicle
Interest in working with students and individuals with disabilities.

Salary:  Applicant's with some college/university experience will start at $20 per hour.

Start date: September 19th to prepare for the university start date of September 23rd through December 10 (fall quarter).
