Participant Commentary:

  *   Having a Chicano Link peer mentor my first year helped me a great deal. It allowed me to have someone who was there for me both on a personal level and academic level. which is what I want to provide for my mentee. It's essential to build a healthy and guiding relationship to help them reach their best potential here at UCR!



  *   My CHICANO LINK PEER mentor left a wonderful impression on me as a mentee and really believed in my abilities and was always very proud of the accomplishments that I achieved!  It is because of her, that I want to do the same with other new students and demonstrate that there are people that share similar interest and are willing to take the time to meet with you, hear about everything you want to do and everything you've done through your academic process.



  *   Being a CHICANO LINK mentor this year, I have grown to love this mentorship more than any other mentoring that I have done in the past! Being able to give back to  incoming student has really made it possible for me to not only give my best  for that individual, by advising them of all the resources this University  has to give, but also by ensuring that whoever becomes my mentee, feels that they are never alone here at the University!



  *   I BELIEVE that everyone should have someone in their lives to help guide them when they need the most  help, both academically and personally. I know that being a part of the Chicano link peer mentor program  will allow me to ACCOMPLISH this and to help students reach their  full potential while here at UCR.  By doing this, I hope to make a positive impact on the student COMMUNITY!



  *   Every new student faces obstacles, I know I did and never did I think that I would overcome them, but speaking with my Chicano link Peer mentor, I knew there was a brighter light at the end of the tunnel and she made sure I knew that.
