Hi all,

I have funding to hire an undergrad to help with a carpenter bee project
this spring. I would love to work with a member of SEEDS. Please see the ad
below and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Elijah

Project description: The Rafferty Lab is conducting a study to assess
Xylocopa (carpenter bee) population dynamics throughout Riverside County.

The Rafferty Lab in the Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology
department is seeking an undergraduate student to coordinate part of a
carpenter bee conservation project being conducted in the spring of 2022.
The aim of this project is to install and monitor carpenter bee nests
throughout Riverside County. Nesting structures will be placed in natural
and residential areas. We also plan to coordinate with local pest
management companies to collect nests.

In this position, you will help graduate students organize and execute nest
dispersal in targeted areas of Riverside County. Your main responsibility
will be to maintain communication with people who have agreed to help with
carpenter bee nest collection (municipal officials, homeowners, and pest
management businesses). Work will mostly be remote, with the potential to
join graduate students in the field. Interest in ecology and conservation
biology are appreciated but not required. More importantly, we are looking
for someone with great organizational skills and experience coordinating
events.

This is a paid position at the rate of $15/hour (~40 hours per quarter).
Most work will occur by the end of the spring quarter, with potential to
continue research for credit afterwards.

If interested, please contact Elijah Hall (EHall006 at ucr.edu) with a brief
introduction and a copy of your CV/resume. Elijah will set up interviews
with interested applicants as soon as possible.
