Overview
Do you have a passion for working collaboratively across programs and backgrounds on complex conservation issues of high priority? Are you eager to help manage and preserve California's marine, fisheries, and other wildlife resources while working to increase access and equity in their enjoyment by all Californians? The Regulations Unit at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife is uniquely positioned to work with nearly all programs at CDFW in various capacities to address marine, land, water, fish, and wildlife issues of substantial complexity and statewide significance. We seek qualified applicants to join our Unit as an Environmental Scientist to help coordinate teams that conceptualize and prepare proposed regulation amendments and supporting documentation in accordance with established procedures.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for leading teams in developing and reviewing high priority regulations to conserve and manage fish and wildlife resources, including for harvest and resource protection. The incumbent works in close coordination with CDFW and Fish and Game Commission (Commission) staff on complex and controversial biological and regulatory issues, including preparing and reviewing supporting rulemaking documents under both CDFW and Commission authorities to meet management, enforcement, and public needs.
