Talk Description

The Prairie ecosystems of Eastern Washington and surrounding regions are
critically endangered. Eastern Washington University (EWU) has begun a ~120
acres prairie restoration on the Cheney campus; however, there is
considerable uncertainty about the most effective restoration approach to
use. We conducted a three-part study to address gaps in knowledge: an
annual seed broadcasting experiment, a biochar addition experiment, and a
seed bank characterization. This talk will introduce you to the Palouse
Prairie, the EWU restoration project, and address preliminary results from
our research.
