Two local school districts, Perris High Union School District (PHUSD) AND Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD), are actively seeking to employ STEM college students to become AVID Tutor.
Some benefits for getting involved as an AVID Tutor:
*         Take an active part in developing the academic and personal strength of AVID students
*         Learn and apply AVID strategies (WICR: writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading)
*         Practice some of the teaching strategies learned in the foundation-level EDUC courses

PHUSD - Pinacate Middle School

Pinacate Middle School in the Perris High Union School District (PHUSD) is seeking STEM college students to serve as AVID tutors, a national program that assist underserved students in low-achieving districts in reaching the goal of going to college.  AVID Tutors at Pinacate Middle School are paid at $10-$15/hour.  Weekly hours are serviced at the school site on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the time frame of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  AVID Tutors can expect flexible hours that can easily adapt to college students' academic schedules.  Employment is available throughout the academic year and employment begins immediately upon receiving TB and fingerprinting clearance.

MVUSD  - Valley View High School

Valley View High (VVH) School in Moreno Valley is hiring college students to tutor in the AVID program.  The AVID tutor will be working with students in the AVID program on Tuesdays and Thursdays as students seek to master curriculum in their core and college preparatory elective classes.  You will be working with a small of group of students, guiding them through problems they encounter in content classes.  There will also be opportunities working with teachers in the classroom.  AVID is a college preparatory program that aids students in reaching their goal of attending a four-year university.  We focus on academic skills, tutorials (study groups), college research, and educating them about the requirements of college application process.

You will be expected to attend training through AVID Center or at VVHS in preparation for your tutoring job.

We have three separate tutoring opportunities:

1.      AVID Tutor(Workstudy only)  Job # 34448-  $12 per hour

2.      America Counts AVID Tutor(Workstudy only) -  $12 per hour

3.      AVID Tutor Community Service(open)-  Community service
