Rate of Gender and Ethnic Inclusion in the STEM Fields:

A Mathematical Interpretation

While often analysis of gender and ethnic inclusion in the STEM fields
(science, technology, engineering and mathematics) address year-to-year
changes in various populations, a more appropriate approach may be to see
the long-term rate of inclusion for various demographics. In this work, we
use the representative index and compare how various groups are moving
towards well-defined diverse arenas, especially for the engineering
doctorate. A mathematical analysis is used to determine the time constant
for inclusive growth (how long will it take) as well as determine whether we
reach a plateau that is truly inclusive.

12:00 - 1:30 pm

Conference Room 367

Surge Building

3rd Floor

The Lecture Series for Women Students in STEM is designed to highlight the
work, research, and careers of women and men in STEM fields at UC Riverside.
The goal of the series is to showcase our own women and men faculty,
researchers and administrators. The campus is moving in new and
unprecedented directions in promoting women STEM majors. The series will
provide opportunities for women students in STEM to interconnect, grow, and
achieve success by interacting with successful role models on campus.

Cosponsored by the Division of Diversity, Excellence and Equity, the Women's
Resource Center, the Medical Scholars Program and a Steering Committee
composed of women and men across the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics) departments at UC Riverside
