[CaTEACH-SMI] Understanding the Culture of Poverty

ATTENTION:    ALL PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS

The Understanding the Culture of Poverty Conference (see attached for 
more details) is a two-day workshop that will offer participants an 
opportunity to consider the realities of what it means to "live in 
poverty." Through the research of Dr. Ruby Payne, Ph.D., this 
compelling and interactive workshop provides a foundation to 
understand the variables that sometimes interfere with achievement 
and success for the community of poverty. Participants will leave 
with strategies for effectively engaging with the community of poverty.

Date:           November 18 & 19, 2008
Time:           8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location:       Westwind Community Center
                         2425 Riverside Drive
                         Ontario, CA 91761
Fee:            $75/person (includes morning snack, lunch, and 
training materials.)

To apply for financial support toward the registration fee ($75), 
please submit the SMI Pre-Professional Development Support 
application (see attached) to the SMI Resource Center (1104 Pierce 
Hall) by Friday, October 24, 2008.
