NOW ACCEPTING -- Nominations for the 2008 Graduating Senior Awards
FOR GRADUATING SENIORS
Dean Thomas L. Broadbent Award: Recognizes a graduating male student
for outstanding participation in extracurricular campus activities,
leadership and academic achievement. A cumulative GPA of 3.2 is
required at the time of application. A personal plaque, an
inscription on UCR's perpetual plaque, and a $200 award will be
presented at the Annual Commencement Awards Ceremony
Dean Loda Mae Davis Award: Recognizes a graduating woman for
outstanding participation in extracurricular campus activities,
leadership and academic achievement. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is
required. A personal plaque, an inscription on UCR's perpetual
plaque, and a $200 award will be presented at the Annual Commencement
Awards Ceremony.
Marguleas/Weiman Humanitarian of the Year Award: Recognizes a UCR
undergraduate student who serves as a role model and inspiration to
others. It is awarded to a graduating student who serves, not
seeking recognition or financial compensation, but to help others, a
"true volunteer and role model." An individual plaque, an
inscription on UCR's perpetual plaque, and a $200 gift will be
presented at the Annual Commencement Award Ceremony.
FOR STUDENTS OF ALL LEVELS
Bayless Student Leadership Award: This award has been established by
the Bayless Student Leadership Endowment Committee to develop the
qualities of leadership and academic excellence, and to award those
individuals who exhibit such characteristics. The recipient for the
award will be selected on the basis of the quality of leadership they
have exhibited to foster continued leadership qualities which will
enhance them as individuals and, in turn, campus life. The amount of
the award will be based on the information provided on this
application, an interview, and may range from $25-$200.
Bayless Group Leadership Award: The Bayless Group Leadership Award
was established to promote and reward student leadership development
for campus and/or community activities. Recipient group(s) for the
award will be selected on the basis of the quality of leadership they
exhibit as a group, and how the group intends to foster continued
leadership qualities which will enhance its membership and, in turn,
campus life. The amount of the award will be based on the
information provided on this application and the group interview, and
will range from $50-$250.

Deadline to submit applications is Friday, April 11, 2008 at 5:00
p.m. in the AVC/Dean of Students Office located in 381
Commons. Please note that the qualifications differ for each award,
requiring completion of a separate application for each.
The awards will be presented at the Honors Convocation on May 15,
2008, to be held in the University Theatre. This is an excellent
opportunity for students to be recognized for their achievements. If
