Dear CNAS Life Sciences Graduate Students,

Winter 2026 TA applications for courses in the life sciences (BCH, BIOL,
BPSC/GBNT, CBNS, ENTM,MCBL) are now available! The deadline to apply
is *Friday,
October 17th, 2025. *The system will shut down at 11:59pm on 10/17/25
and *will
only reopen if we need additional applicants later in the appointment
process.*

Please login to http://taonline.ucr.edu to submit your application as soon
as possible. *Even if you submitted an application for a previous term, you
are still required to log in each quarter, review or edit your course
requests, and Confirm/Submit your application in order to be considered for
the next term.*

   - Please discuss TAing with your Major Professor and *only apply if you
want to TA in Winter 2026*

   - Masters Students are *encouraged* to apply

   - If you cannot find your Major Professor on the drop-down please let me
or your Student Services Advisor know and we will get them added
immediately so you can complete your application

   - If you do not request any classes for Winter 2026, you *will not* appear
on the list of potential TAs for the class. Neither the instructors nor
the TAAC members can see your application and you are unlikely to be
appointed. It is important to request all classes for which you are
qualified when completing your application. This ensures that you appear
   for consideration to many instructors/departments.

   - We are also concerned that students do not list all relevant previous
coursework. The committee uses previous coursework information to
determine suitability to TA a particular course. In some cases, although
you did not request a specific course on your list, they will consider
appointing you if you have an appropriate background. Failure to list all
prior relevant coursework can reduce your chances of appointment.

   - The TA Online Manual has a list of materials to gather before you
apply for the first time. It is available via link from the front page of
    http://taonline.ucr.edu

If you have any trouble with the application or have questions, please let
me know right away and I will be happy to help.

Sincerely,

*Fidel Rivas*
