[Botanystaff] Dept Administration Notice

Good morning,

As we near the end of our renovations and our department occupants start moving back into our building, we will once again have much foot traffic flowing into the offices.  It will be critical that we have the department staffed and functioning efficiently, especially as we are to appoint a new Chair for the department.  In turn, I would like to take the time to address a few items of concern.  They are as follows:


  *   Staff Schedules - In the past few months, we have noticed an increase in staff tardiness.  We kindly ask that everyone arrive at your designated start time to ensure the offices are staffed appropriately each morning.  We understand life happens and we are flexible in allowing time to be made up at the end of the day if you prefer, rather than docking on the timesheet.  If your scheduled work time needs to be adjusted, please feel free to let us know and we would be more than happy to adjust to a later start and end time.



  *   Updating White Boards - Each staff office has a designated white board to allow for messages to be written.  Our offices will be busy with lots of walk-in's once again, so if we can continue placing messages on the boards when you will be away from your desk for a long period of time, it would be greatly appreciated.



  *   Office Doors to Remain Open during Business Hours - Now that the renovations are coming to a halt, we would like to go back to having offices that give a sense of welcoming to our staff, faculty and students.  If we can please keep our office doors open during business hours, we would greatly appreciate it.  During your lunch time, please feel free to close the door so you are not disturbed and place a message on your board that you are at lunch.



  *   Streaming TV During Work Hours -   Just a friendly reminder that streaming TV during work hours is not allowed.  We kindly ask to refrain from doing so, or do while on your lunch break.



  *   Request for vacation and/or appointments - As Fiscal Year End is nearing, we kindly ask that you give a few days notice when requesting vacation and/or time off for appointments.  There will be many critical days that we need to ensure the offices are staffed accordingly to take on important closing deadlines, events, etc.  Also, please note due to fiscal close we will not be approving any vacation requests for the period of June 1st - July 12th that exceed two days.
