Subject: Mindful Monday- ACT

Good Morning Students,

I look forward to seeing you at our group meditation TODAY at 12:30. Let's take some time for stillness allowing an opportunity to decrease stress and reenergize.

As a reminder if you would like to learn more about mindfulness and how to start a meditation practice please feel free to reach out and schedule a meeting. Also be on the lookout for workshops on how to start a meditation practice as well as more group meditation times in the coming year.

For this week we are pulling from The ACT Deck - Acceptance & Commitment Therapy Practices to Build Connection, Find Focus, and Reduce Stress

  * Open (focus on full experience & teach you to notice and lean into difficult thoughts and sensations)
     * Criticism Isn't Critical- Notice your tendencies to push harder, self-criticize, and be harsh. More effort doesn't always equal better outcomes. Take one difficult situation you're working through and practice accepting yourself.

  * Aware ( incorporates mindfulness into your everyday life and increase contact with present moment)
     * You Are Not Your Thoughts- You have thoughts and feelings. You experience them now, experienced them yesterday, and will experience them tomorrow. Notice the separation between you and what you think and feel.

  * Engaged (Will assist with activity/exercises for action)
     * Living is Doing- Pick one small action you could do today that takes you closer to the life you want to live.
