[Biomed_grad_faculty] New BMSC 297/299 Enrollment Form (sample attached)

Good afternoon BMSC Grad Program Faculty,

To improve the management of enrollment requests for BMSC 297 Directed Research or BMSC 299 Research for Dissertation, we are implementing a new "Enrollment Form". Students and faculty will need to confirm the unit expectation for the quarter, by completing this form each term the student expects to engage in research activities for credit.

Attached is a sample of the Enrollment Form for your reference.

Students requesting enrollment in these courses should have prior communication with the faculty to establish participation in research for the upcoming quarter. We recommend scheduling an interview or initial intake meeting to discuss research for credit participation and possible match.

For phase 1, this form is being rolled out to the current BMSC master's students for the Fall 2023 quarter. In phase 2, we will roll this out to all students enrolling in research for credit with BSMC Graduate Program Faculty, this includes PhD students. Phase 2 is projected for winter quarter. We are working to make this a dynamic webform with DocuSign functionality. More details to come in phase 2 implementation.

The deadline to submit the completed form to the Student Services Advisor (Hermila Torres) is 4PM on Wednesday of week 2 of the quarter you intend to enroll. This form should be submitted for each quarter of intended enrollment.

If you have BMSC master's students in your lab that plan to conduct research for credit for Fall 2023, please look out for individual DocuSign requests in your email inbox.
