[Bgsa] Upcoming outreach opportunities

Hi Everyone,

Here the two outreach opportunities discussed at today's EEOBGSA meeting.

1) California State Science Fair
May 1, 2012
7am-1:30pm (not including travel time)
California Science Center in Los Angeles
You'll be judging projects from junior high and high school students.

Please let Bre and/or I know if you plan to judge; if enough people sign
up, I may put together a carpool.

2) Kingsley Elementary School [Ontario-Montclair School District]
May 14 or May 16, depending on interest
8:30am-11:15am (not including travel time) - the initial emails sounded
like we could stay for lunch if you desperately miss public school lunches.

The school would like three presentations: careers in science, ecology, and
evolution. These would all need to be given at a 4th grade level, so it can
be a challenge. Presentations last about 45 minutes, and would be given
three times (one time each to a different class of 4th graders). Each class
has approximately 35 4th graders.

If you're interested, let me know which topic(s) you can help with, which
day(s) you're available, whether you need a ride (or can provide a ride),
and whether you'd prefer to present alone or with somebody else (we can
have multiple people in a single classroom). I am happy to help develop
materials and lesson plans for each of the topics.
