Hi All,
I have attached directions to the James reserve, and the code to get into the
gate. It has been pretty chilly at the reserve, with an expected high of 40
degrees (Fahrenheit) on Saturday. Please dress warm!
Also, as most of you are well aware, every year we have lab introductions, and
each person in attendance will get the chance to briefly tell the group about
their research interests. If your advisor is not present, please give the group a
brief summary of the lab research interests in addition to your own. I just want
to give you some advance warning so that you are not caught off guard if you
are the only representative from your lab!
Becca Fenwick, the James reserve director, has asked that we make sure that the
gate is properly locked behind us as we leave, as this has been an ongoing
problem. Since it is a numeric combination lock, please make sure that the
numbers are mixed up and that you give it a quick tug to ensure that the lock is
engaged.
For those of you who are planning to stay the night, be sure to bring food for
breakfast, as we will not be providing any. Becca has also told me that you can
make a small campfire, but please use the hose to fully extinguish any fires.
There are also metal skewers available for roasting marshmallows and making
smores.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Otherwise, I look
forward to seeing you at the retreat!
Thanks,
Adrienne
