Hi Victor,
Can you share this out to the BFASA Fam?
Greetings BFASA Family!
As we come down from an incredible academic year, I wanted to take a moment
to express my deepest gratitude for the countless ways you have supported,
encouraged, challenged, mentored, and poured into our scholars throughout
the year in African Student Programs.
On June 6th, 2026, we celebrated 120 graduates at our Legacy of eXcellence
Celebration, and as I collected myself after crying so much, I was reminded
that it truly does take a village to make it happen. It's never the result
of one office, one program, or one individual. It is the culmination of an
entire community choosing on the daily to invest in the lives of our
scholars.
Thank you for the care and dedication you bring to our scholars in ASP. The
impact of your efforts was visible in every smile, every shoutout, every
family celebration and every moment of pride shared at our ceremony.
I've included a few photos from the celebration below so you can see the
joy, achievement, and excellence that your work helped make possible. The
photographer was Mav3rick Studios <https://th3msw.com/> Worldwide and is an
approved vendor just in case folx need someone!
As we also recognize Juneteenth tomorrow, I hope we each take a moment to
reflect on the significance and legacy of Juneteenth. If you're not
familiar ( I don't ever assume), please review this short article
<https://nmaahc.si.edu/explore/stories/historical-legacy-juneteenth>from
the National Museum of African American History.
Thank you for continuing to show up for our scholars and our office. I am
grateful to be in community with each of you and proud of what we have
accomplished together. Special shoutout to our team: Sharee, Aurea, and
Victor for always elevating the bar!
Wishing you all a meaningful Juneteenth and a restorative summer.
Onward and Upward,
Jamal J. Myrick, Ed.D.
