[BFASA] Requested for Volunteers for Building Resilience in African American Families

Hi BFASA Family,

Here is a request that I received from the Building Resilience in African American Families (BRAAF) program in Riverside.

The BRAAF program strides to incorporate the Nguzo Saba (Kwanzaa) principles into the lives of youth ages 11-13, as well as engage their family on how to help the youth use these principles while moving through life.  At the onset, they are challenged with enrollment, as the program seeks to graduate 15 participants, but has consistently not been able to meet that goal. They set their goal to recruit 25-30 participants, accepting that some families may not maintain interest once the program begins. Sports, family dynamics and other situations have happened that have led families to disengage, thus, they try to graduate at least 15.

 The ask?

There is a need for volunteers who may be able to support the program.  They need help with ensuring the two locations, Desert (located in Palm Springs) and Western (located near Tyler Mall), meet compliance. If able to help, the volunteers would need to be present only to assist in re-directing or helping in ways that allow the instructors to teach the lesson. The volunteers would not need to teach, but if they want to participate, they are welcomed to. The program is after school Tue, Wed, and Thu from 4-7.
